Fashion in Motion #2 at the Palais Galliera

From April 26, 2024, to January 5, 2025, the Palais Galliera presents "Fashion in Motion #2," a captivating exhibition that traces the evolution of fashion from the 18th century to the present day, focusing on the body in motion.

This exhibition unveils over 250 new works, illustrating how clothing has adapted to physical and sporting activities over the centuries. Visitors will discover outfits for horseback riding, tennis, golf, cycling, as well as rare swimwear pieces, reflecting the democratization of sports since the late 19th century. The exhibition highlights the progressive specialization of sportswear and its integration into everyday wardrobes, mirroring social transformations and evolving beauty standards, notably through the lens of tanning.

The Palais Galliera features exceptional loans from the Musée National du Sport, the Azzedine Alaïa Foundation, the Bibliothèque Forney, and other prestigious institutions, enriching this unique presentation. This exhibition is part of the Cultural Olympiad, resonating with the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
